One of my friends is making a sequel to last years successful movie "Threat of the Mummy". The sequel is called "Revenge of the Sorceress". The set is for an ancient Roman room.
The temporary 8' x 12' set is built in a corner of my playpen. Since the walls are 1" beadboard, the studs are 4' apart except for the 2' centers for the fake 8" thick window. The cost of the set is less than $100.
Large 4' x 8' sheets are easier to cut with this "slicer". A spring keeps tension on the wire because it stretches when current is applied. The wire is 22 gauge, and needs 30 volts for 5 feet of nichrome. Note footswitch on the ground in front of the power supply.
This is one of my power supplies. It's contained in an old ammo box with a 10 amp variac and a full wave bridge rectifier for DC output. I built it many years ago to power feed my mill table.
