My gate and runner cutter is made from a bent piece of galvanized metal.

This sprue cutter is a hollow piece of 1/2" thin wall tube.

A drywall screw is used to lift the patterns. Light tapping on the screw shifts the pattern enough so they can be lifted from the sand easily.

With the patterns removed; runner, gates and sprue cut, the flask is ready to be closed and aluminum poured. The casting is so small, a riser wasn't used.
